UPCOMING GIGS ...

Off The Hook @ Kraak, 24.3.12

PAST GIGS...

I was asked three times to DJ before I said yes. My first gig was a John Peel tribute night. After guesting at friends’ nights I became resident at Fame! the raucous 80s night at Purple Pussycat. I’m one half of Off The Hook. It’s an R’n’B / hip-hop night for homos and their homies. It’s a night I inherited one half of and I’ve come to love it. I play De La Soul and Neneh Cherry and Salt N Pepa a lot. Drunk At Vogue ismy own baby, and it's one I share with three other proud Dads. Both my parties are currently resident at Kraak in the Northern Quarter.

I’ve played with/at/for: Bollox, Clique, Trash-O-Rama, Pop Curious?, Queeruption, Mother’s Ruin, Liverpool'sHomotopia, David Hoyle’s Northern Lights, Contact Theatre, City Life Magazine, Good Afternoon’s Royal Wedding Boat Party, Islington Mill, Dalston Boys Club, and The House Party, on Halloween and New Year’s Eve. I am actually available for weddings and christenings and bah mitzahs.

BIOG…

I was reared on Motown and eighties pop. I loved and love Five Star, I still play them out all the time. At 12 I fell for Run DMC, De La Soul, Neneh Cherry and Salt N Pepa. At 13 it was The Smiths and Morrissey, the most enduring of the lot. I was a die-hard indie kid after that. My first gig was James at Preston Guild Hall at 14. I followed Suede all over the country.

I came to dance music late and binged ever since. My first proper clubbing was during the electroclash boom. My best moments on the dancefloor have been to ‘Emerge’ by Fischerspooner and ‘01’ by Vitalic. My favourite piece of dance music of all time is ‘Italian Fireflies’ by Black Strobe.

I love Steely Dan. And Bowie. I worship Stevie Wonder. I love disco; old, new, mainstream, underground. I never loved Elvis.
